Hi,
I’m A-Leigh Ann. My name is inspired by the bible verse 1 Peter 2:11. "Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul" (New American Standard Bible: 1995 update. (1995). (1 Pe 2:11). La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation) For most of my life I have felt like an outsider. I felt like I didn’t belong, that I wasn’t accepted. There are many ways to identify me: black, woman, military veteran, wife, daughter, college educated, sorority sister, natural hair wielder, fit…ish. Although I can be identified in several ways I never felt like I “fit in” to a group of people. Not until I made the choice to give my life to following Jesus. Through Him I have found an acceptance that I never had while pursuing other relationships. So as a follower of Christ I standout. I’m different. I’m not of this world, an A-Leigh Ann (get it? lol). I have a desire to write. I am writing not just so that my voice can be heard. I am writing for those without hope. Those who don’t have anyone. Those who don’t realize that their current circumstances are not the end. I want to flood people’s lives with light. I want to push back the darkness. I want to help people be reminded that although we can’t control everything that happens to us, we can control the way that we respond. That is why I started this blog. I hope those reading will enjoy it. I’m sure you have heard something like the following saying before “If I can just reach one person, it will be worth it.” There is so much power in that statement and if I can only affirm, encourage, or motivate one person it will be worth it. But I know there is far more people who need that. |
